This is a program that Hudson Rod, Gun and Archery Club is hosting.  It is co-sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) and is for the benefit of the huge numbers of new shooters and new gun owners that have limited knowledge and almost no experience.  There is a 50.00 plus fees charge for this program.   If participants complete the NSSF survey after class, they will receive a $25.00 electronic gift card that they can use only at Hudson Rod, Gun and Archery Club toward the purchase of a daily membership, an annual membership, range fees, eye and ear protections, etc, etc.

Participants receive a packet from NSSF that includes eye and ear protection, target, ammo, a shooters guide and a shooters log.  They also receive three hours of classroom instruction focused on safety, marksmanship, and range etiquette followed by a range exercise.  The program is intended to make the new shooter comfortable coming to our range and to make everyone on the range more comfortable with  the new shooters.  When everyone is comfortable with each other, only good things can happen.

The current plan is to offer this class once per month.

I will be the lead instructor in the initial stages and will be acting as a volunteer for this effort.  We do have a member that is planning to take NRA Certified Instructor Training in Rifle so he can teach the First Shots Rifle Program.  That would seem like the logical next offering.  Hopefully there will be some demand in shotgun at some point in the future.

Our next scheduled class is December 6, 2020.  Click the link below for further information or to register.
